Healing Methods (Modalities) Kim Uses
Kim has been formally trained in a variety of holistic modalities, and
uses them interchangeably in her healing sessions. Here are some of the main modalities used in her individual
sessions, group work, and workshops.
What is
Bodywork?
Bodywork is a form of healing that takes into consideration
the mind, body and spirit of a person. Bodyworkers may touch, or teach their
clients to touch affected areas in the body in a safe manner. This process often assists in understanding
and working with what is needed for our healing by freeing blocked energy, and
encouraging emotional release. Bodywork honours the interconnection of the mind, body and spirit.

What is Psychodrama?
Psychodrama, developed by J.L. Moreno, is a form of psychotherapy in which blocked spontaneity from earlier traumas or life issues is unblocked and reintegrated through dramatic action methods. Psychodrama takes what is often a hidden dynamic and makes it visible so that the client can interact and make decisions from a knowledgeable and empowered space. It allows the client to access his or her inner wisdom to find answers from within, and learn tools to assist in living a balanced life.
For more information, see the Toronto Centre for Psychodrama and Sociometry’s web site at
www.tcps.on.ca.
What is Psychodramatic Bodywork®?
Psychodramatic Bodywork®is a holistic approach to therapeutic intervention developed by Susan Aaron. It integrates the cognitive, the emotional and body awareness to bring about a whole body healing experience. It integrates the psychotherapeutic techniques of psychodrama with the art of shiatsu. This assists clients with understanding cell or body memory, its connection with illness, and the need to look at emotions and life issues from the body's perspective to move into a whole body healing experience. For more information, see the Psychodramatic Bodywork web site at
www.youremotions.com
What is Therapeutic Touch (TT)?
Therapeutic touch is a
form of energy work that incorporates several ancient healing practices. Dolores Kreiger, PhD., R.N., and her
colleague, the late Dora Kunz, first brought this technique to our attention as
a modern healing method. It is a
directed energy exchange technique where a practitioner will use her hands as a
focus for facilitating healing. For
more information, see the Ontario Therapeutic Touch Network’s web site at
www.therapeutictouchnetwk.com.
What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a form of bodywork based on the principle that there are reflexes in the hands and feet
that correspond to every part, gland and organ of the body. It is also called zone therapy. The benefits of a reflexology treatment are;
relaxation, release of tension, improved circulation, and the promotion of the
body’s self-normalization process. For
more information, see the Reflexology Association of Canada’s web site at www.reflexologycanada.ca.
