Brain Wave Diary
Would you like a scoop? In 1976 I became aware of the possibility of mental viruses through a book written by Richard Dawkins called The Selfish Gene. In short, the British scientist theorized the possibility of a genetic component he named "memes," or virtual mind viruses. Simplistically, humans are mental hosts to memes, which to survive have to be transmitted from host to host. Transmittal occurs through communication. Memes could explain why individuals become motivated to take part in mass events or to adopt common ideology, be the meme good, benign or sinister. Quite simply, mass mind control. Piqued about the possibility, I endeavored to experiment with writing styles to see if meme transmittal was possible and if it were, how to embed memes into the writing providing consistent result. Through trial and error over an extended period I have achieved this goal. The "programming" of memes is accomplished through carefully constructed vignettes, which a reader is compelled to read. Once read, the meme is transmitted and in most cases the host responds to the imbedded idea and becomes supportive of it. The ramification speaks for itself. Using the Internet as a global river, I have cast many virtual bottles containing meme messages to test and gauge the meme effectiveness of them--on total strangers. Some of the results have been startling. The most startling result to date is a meme constructed to infect the host with the notion that I am a writer, although I am not. They are adamant there will be a book even though I am not predisposed to producing one. The book is substantially completed now. Oh yes, the scoops. There are three or four. » There is the story of how the story unfolded which could be of general interest and entertaining. I think the story is unique and therefore a scoop. » There is the book. It is noteworthy because the author is not one. I have provided the first chapter by way of introduction. No other medium knows about it, and is therefore a scoop. » Has a reluctant to be published book without an author ever been pre reviewed and judged for merit? I expect not, so this would be a scoop. » The purpose of the book is to change the world through improved approaches. Has the whole world ever been changed for the better using Hamilton, Ontario as a base? I know, I thought the same thing! Still, if it happens it would be a scoop.
